ABOUT ME

My journey into graphic design began with a curiosity. Growing up in a South Asian background, studying subjects outside of STEM were often unheard of, so it was when my sister embarked on her studies in graphic design that I was introduced to Adobe Photoshop. I saw how the constraints of the pen and paper were lifted with one programme, and how this software could open a new potential to expand my creativity. Over the years, I began to self-teach the essentials of Photoshop and Illustrator developing my fluency across these programmes and embraced the challenge learning new, complex tech gave me. I would go on to develop my first logo design for my local mosque and my very first web development project for the same. With no experience of HTML, CSS or Javascript, I knew there was a breadth of knowledge to be gained. In my free time, in between studying for my GCSE and A-Level exams, with the help of W3Schools and the Indian bloke on Youtube, I rapidly learned the basics of HTML and CSS as a requisite to develop that website. The positive feedback from that small but humble project ignited a new direction on this journey.

I had also taken an early interest in Arabic calligraphy which simmered along the way, fruiting into the early days of Khatt. Although, I had desired a way to set myself asides from others in the same field. By utilising my newfound skills in graphic design, I would then digitise my Arabic art developing digital content. But it wasn’t until I was approached by an avid fan and asked if I could convert my design into a logo for their newly established business, that I realised my capabilities. I recognised that my skills could be combined into one hub and alas, Khatt began to grow into the creative design agency we see today.

Although fanatical about graphic design, it forms the surface of my career goals, and undoubtedly my passions are deeply rooted in healthcare. I aspire to weave graphic design and entrepreneurship into my career in healthcare and I rest assured that every project, client, and outcome that Khatt fruits will undoubtedly bring me one step closer to my goal.
